Well, 2019, you got nothing on 2020!
I just re-read my last post. In the middle of January, I was wondering what will happen next. Well, it turns out, at that time I was about 1 month pregnant! The hotel that we were staying at suddenly became so stinky, I couldn't stand being in the hallways, going to get breakfast, staying in our room.. Chuck was sure that I was pregnant, and I was sure that I wasn't. Well, he was right! We went to see a doctor on Feb 5 I think, just to make sure that I don't have some sort of extended fod poisoning, and it turned out that I was 9 weeks pregnant! Oh my oh my oh my!! I really didn't expect it, I didn't really allow myself to have any expectations since our miscarriage in 2019. I put in a lot of work that year to process it together with Chuck, and as a result, our love became stronger, our communication became better. I really stopped thinking about babies and our precious angel came to us! I am typing this as she's sleeping peacefully right next to me.
We closed on the house on Feb 14, I even cried a little bit in the car on the way from the closing back to the hotel. Really, who am I without a good celebratory weeping? LOL That day we woke up early, made two trips to the house to bring all our stuff there (we stayed at the hotel for 6 weeks!), went to the closing, drove to the hotel to pick up the dogs, and drove to the house with them. I think I have a picture, let me quickly find it..
And by the way, when we were picking up the dogs, the hotel did smell terrible, as it turns out, while we were signing the closing documents, the hotel's sewer burst open right next to where our room was. Perfect timing. We ran inside while holding our breath, grabbed the dogs and were on our way to our beand new family home. Oh, what a day it was!
My birthday was the day before, we went to a French restaurant (good old pre-covid times!) and had a nice early dinner :)
Our baby girl was due in September, so we had a lot of time to get settled, enjoy the summer, and prepare to meet her.
Here is when we found out that we were expecting a girl. Chuck picked up the test results from the doctor and promised not to look until he got back home. I was at home changing outfits three times. I started with wearing everythin pink and it was a crazy combo of pink crocs, pink sweatshirt, pink pajama pants.. LOL I looked ridiculous. I eventually grabbed my favorite Disney t-shirt and a long wool cardigan. We opened the envlope and.. yay!! It was such a great moment. We sent this pic to our families and closest friends.
Because we have lake Lewsiville in our backyard, we spent a lot of time on the water - whether we went swimming, paddle boarding or sailing our boat :)
It was so great to watch my bely grow and feel the little girl's kicks all the time :)
Caroine "Charlie" Rose Rogers joined us on September 13th, and it was the happiest day of our lives.
She is five weeks old now, and she is the sweetest little girl. Even when I wake up tired in the night to feed her, I get this kick of energy the moment I see her sweet face. I am so thankful that I am her mom. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
